"In the Event of Elegance" tells a bit of the history behind The China Closet and shows off the first gallery on Park Street in Birmingham. We enjoyed this gallery setting from 2002 - 2008. The fun part of doing this photo shoot was working with the photographer, Brett Mountain, who has been a friend of my son's for years. Brett spent many sleep overs at our house; to see him work as a professional photographer was inspiring and rewarding! It just underscores how instrumental my children AND their friends were and continue to be in my life, my business and pleasures!

Receiving a letter of gratitude from Mr. Soave after his daughter's wedding in June of 2006 was a wonderful piece of mail to receive. After reading the article, "Tony Soave, Inside his $1.6 Billion Empire" made this letter even more valuable. To be able to provide services to this calibre of client and receive praise...priceless!

Capturing the feature wedding spot in the local Style magazine was the frosting on the cake for Michelle and John Antonini! They had a "dream wedding" and a fabulous planning time, too! We set, reset and tweaked their look for months prior to their celebration...the results were worth every bit of tweaking that we did. Again, the expressions on a bride and groom's face tells more than just the story of the day...it tells the story of months of planning filled with great anticipation...and all was realized come their wedding day!

"Bad times can trickle upward, too" This article references the days of 2003; however, little did we know then that the times would be even graver in 2009! My comment, "I still see the struggling with 'what I want' and 'what I can afford' even more so now." In 2009, this is still the case and we are still managing to create dreams for clients that are within their budgets!

The Knot Spring/Summer 2004

This issue features Carolyn Hefner as the Michigan Local Expert with her own editorial page (page 18).The advice that is offered to corresponding brides is still current and sound! The wedding couple featured on page 39 was The China Closet's first "dove release" couple! Having a great fear of birds myself, it made sense that this bride, being a veterinarian had no qualms about releasing birds after the ceremony!

Also enjoy reading about our clients on pages 37 and 38. Special note of THANKS to Keven and Brewster as this New York couple were the ones that made me see the necessity for an actual office space...and thus The China Closet Gallery was born and has since entertained, educated and provided a home base for some of Detroit's top professionals and most elite clientele. Also enjoy a magical event at the Ritz!

Trends...the title of this feature...but those on the inside of this event know it was all about a story within a story, about the passion for art, family and a lesson to live life to the fullest. The chuppah was created and transported at the very last minute from the art studio of Dartmouth's campus. The Hebrew written on each column was inspiring not only for this couple but for all attending and for those who have since wed under it. The setting for this event was designed florist Don Mazur who was indeed a true artist but his true gift to all of us was the lesson to live in the moment.
